How will my vote be counted?

If your first choice gets more votes than they need to win then part of your vote (the "surplus") goes to your second choice.

If your first choice is eliminated then all of your vote goes to your second choice.

If your second choice has already won or been eliminated, then your vote goes to your third, fourth, or fifth choice.

Surplus Votes

Winning candidates take only as much of your vote as they need, and the remainder of your vote goes to your second choice. Your ballot is sliced up like a piece of pie, and each candidate that you list gets a slice.

Eliminating Candidates

If your first-choice candidate is eliminated then your entire vote goes to your second choice.
